Culture of Odisha

Odisha is a state of art and cultures. It has a long glorious history, through the century Orissa has retained its cultural identity within the mainstream of the greater Indian culture. Odisha is a land of rich and diverse artistic achievements place. Here in Orissa art and culture are the products of a long historical process in which the spiritual, philosophical and the human dimensions have merged to yield the finest effects of a cultured and civilised life style of the peoples.

These are many different types of arts and cultures are present in this state Odisha. Many cultures people like Hindu, Muslim, Buddhist and etc are leaving together, so the culture of this state is a mixed culture.

The main language of the state is Odia but Hindi, English and other Indian languages are also common in this region. Many types of arts like Pattachitra art, weaving art, handicraft arts, stone art, sand art etc are very much popular in this state.

The cultural heritage of Orissa is reflected in its different art forms. Odisha has distinct tradition in different things like painting, architecture, sculpture, handicrafts, music and dance. These are Odisha boasts of a long and rich cultural heritage and due to the reigns of many different rulers in the past, the culture, arts and crafts of the state Odisha is underwent many changes, imitations, assimilations and new creations, from time to time. Now days also the people of Odisha adopting different cultures and traditions but still they remember their own culture and traditions.

Many types of art and artist of traditional Odia culture are still present; one of the examples is “Pattachitra painting”. The pattrachitra painting is very old culture and art of Odisha, still people maintain this art in Odisha, especially in Raghurajpur village of puri, and the pattrachitra art is still produced for domestic uses and also for exporting purposes. The pattachitra paintings are exported to many different countries in all over the world. Like pattachitra painting art these are many other types of arts and many other cultures are present in India.


So these are some things about the culture and arts of Odisha.
